Deb Peterson

Primarily self-taught, Deb has been creative since early childhood, but more seriously since 2021. Her interest lies in nature and the medium she chooses most is acrylic. Deb is captivated with how paint flows and moves on a canvas and she uses a variety of tools to manipulate, layer, scrape, smudge and blend the paint. Her goal is to provoke emotion through colour, shape and texture. Most of her work is abstract, resembling the beauty of nature.

“Deb’s art, in her own words, is “based on nature” which is something I hold very dear to my heart. When I ponder Deb’s art, nature is exactly what I see, in its many splendid forms. Each piece evokes a unique feeling, emotion or response in me and in my opinion, that is a sign of a great piece of art. I personally am fortunate to have several pieces of Deb’s artwork in my home and I am always excited to see what she has coming down the pipe. Thank you, dear friend/artist, for
sharing your amazing gift with all of us”

“Living so close to a beautiful ravine, I am captivated by natures ever changing colours and textures.. I often begin my paintings with a loose idea of composition and then I choose colours, place them on a canvas and then stand back to find inspiration. Being creative brings me joy."

"Looking at Deb's work, there's a resonance in it that is honest and authentic. She is a medium through which nature speaks."
